Abstract

Abstract:

Hypertension is an increasingly prevalent global health issue, especially among university students. The Know and Prevent Hypertension through Healthy Eating program aims to raise awareness and knowledge among students at Halu Oleo University (UHO) about hypertension and the importance of a healthy diet. A situational analysis was conducted through a survey developed using the Health Belief Model (HBM) approach. The initial survey aimed to identify students' levels of knowledge and eating habits, providing a foundation for developing educational media tailored to the program’s target needs. Instagram was chosen as the platform to disseminate educational messages. The content, including videos and posters, featured real-life cases and information on hypertension prevention. Program results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of hypertension risk and healthy eating, along with their active participation in discussions. Despite challenges in delivering in-depth material, the program successfully met its goal of encouraging students to adopt healthy eating patterns in their daily lives.
