Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by high blood glucose levels. The incidence of diabetes mellitus in South Sulawesi still ranks second in non-communicable diseases in 2020, namely 15.79%, and DM is the highest cause of death in South Sulawesi. The prevalence of diabetes in South Sulawesi diagnosed by doctors is 2.1% in Palopo City. Community Service Activities (PPM) aim to implement educational programs for the community in increasing knowledge and self-care for the people of Kec. Salokoe, Palopo City. The methodology for community service activities consists of three stages, namely: the first stage is Examination of Blood Sugar Levels; the second stage of Education to the community; 3) evaluation. Education is carried out for cadres by providing training to cadres. Before and after activities the cadres are accompanied to find out knowledge about DM and self-efficacy. The results of community service are carried out with Management divided into two, namely pharmacology and non-pharmacology. Non-pharmacological management consists of education, medical nutrition, and physical exercise. Pharmacological therapy consists of oral drugs and injections in the form of anti-hyperglycemic drugs and insulin. Pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy go hand in hand. The conclusion from community service is that the activity runs smoothly by checking Blood Sugar Levels and providing education about Diabetes Mellitus.
