THE INFLUENCE OF THE APPLICATION OF FAMILY PLANNING CONCEPT ON IMPLANT CONTRACEPTION USE

Abstract

Introduction: The use of long-term contraceptive methods such as implants, IUDs, and tubectomy is still low, which is influenced by clients and providers of family planning services. The high level of discontinuity of contraceptive use indicates the need for the improvements in counseling about the selection of contraceptives, which is critical. Therefore, it is necessary to make an effort to implement decent counseling to improve the family planning services.

Method: This study applied pre-experiment with static group comparison design. The study used simple random sampling technique using checklist sheets, flipcharts and audio visuals as the research instruments.

Result: Based on the results of the data, it was obtained that from 60 participants, 16 of them (26.7%) were the intervention group using implant contraception, while the intervention group that did not use implant contraception were 14 people (23.3%). Whereas in the control group that used implant contraception account for 5 people (8.3%) and the control group that did not use implant contraception were 25 people (41.7%).

Conclusion: There is an influence of the application of family planning counseling to the use of implant contraception at Maroangin health center Telluwanua, Palopo in 2018, with ρ value = .003 <value α = .05 and correlation coefficient value = .359, meaning that there was a positive correlation, with week correlation.
